Eternal Security

Eternal Security, or Perseverance of the saints, maintains that none who are truly saved can be condemned for their sins or finally fall away from the faith.

By the way – please avoid cutting and pasting arguments of other writers from other sites to prove your argument.  If you want to cut and paste a bit here and there, that is fine, just put the URL where you got the info.  You can also reference another URL, too, if you want us to go there to see what that writer says.  Thanks!

Another Debate Challenge – this time from another church of Christ preacher

While Nathan and Corey debate I would like to offer my services to debate Johnny…..one church of Christ preacher to another……on the following issues:
Who is the enemy? Who is a false teacher?

Or, perhaps on ministry approach.

Really, Johnny…who did Jesus call “hypocrites”? Those who were sincerely striving for God, but were mistaken in some areas, or those who were insincerely religious, who didn’t care about God’s will?
Doesn’t Jude 22-23 call for different approaches to different people? And it seems like (maybe I’m wrong) all you want to do is “hate even the garment stained by the flesh,” while neglecting “have mercy on those who doubt,” and “save others by snatching them out of the fire.”

Johnny, if you’d care to answer this challenge, you can contact Clint here at our blog, or on Randy’s blog, or go directly to the horses mouth at Clint’s blog:

Another Church of Christ website that I would recommend

If you are interested in the discussions we’ve been raising about the teachings of Johnny, James, and Norm, then you might be interested in Al Maxey’s website, which contains some pretty good debates and discussions.

A Knight’s Tale – Chris Knight Engages JR

After a few days of Johnny Robertson badgering Chris Knight on this blog regarding this post on Chris’s blog, Chris decided to take Johnny at his word and debate.  He loaded up his video camera and drove down to the TV studio where “What Does the Bible Say?” is broadcast, and issued Johnny an impromptu challenge.  You can read more about that incident here.  Chris is going to post excerpts from that encounter on youtube.

I have to say, I am really surprised.  I had pictured Johnny to be the living embodiment of 1 Peter 3:15, but it seems that he wasn’t ready to engage Chris – claiming that it was because his program already had an agenda from which he didn’t want to deviate.

This is exactly the thing we’ve discussed here before, that JR seems to have this interesting need for control, and if a situation presents itself out of his control, he’s apparently not interested.  That’s one of the reasons I’ve been so surprised that he had actually been commenting on this blog, although every time he comes he tries to take control and lead the conversation where he wants it to go.

Well, I must say that Chris has impressed me mightily with his chutzpa, and we cheer him on for his not letting himself be bullied by JR.  Bravo, Chris!

Potentially Good Debate Going On…

Well, just like Johnny and company had to go all the way to Los Angeles to find a good sparring partner, our friend Randy has had to go all the way to Texas, because Johnny Robertson, Norm Fields and James Oldfield refuse to grace our blogs with their presence.  Why are they hiding in the shadows?  (LOL)

A Church of Christ pastor (who supports the efforts of our three TV hosts) by the name of Shawn Paden is interacting with us over on Randy’s blog, and so I’d invite folks to wander on over there if you haven’t already and see what’s going on.

Any thoughts on the recent programs, by the way?

Viewers Debate Feedback

If you watched some or all of the recent debates between Armando DeLoa and Johnny Robertson, how did you think it went?  Do you agree with my assessment, or did you feel differently?  Do you want to see these men debate again?  Let’s chat about it!
